Hey everyone, I’m Justin Trap, and this is the Ministry Minute Podcast.
Today’s story is about Ryan. He leads a growing church, runs a consulting firm, and owns a hot chicken franchise.
Can you serve God while also building something in the business world?
Before stepping onto a platform, Ryan Binkley co-founded Generational Equity Group. This consulting firm helps businesses with mergers and acquisitions. Then came the call to ministry. Ryan didn’t leave the business behind, though.
He started Create Church in Richardson, Texas. He also led in the marketplace. He preaches on Sundays and runs a company during the week. And just to keep things interesting, he also owns a franchise of Dave’s Hot Chicken.
In most people’s eyes, this would be an either-or situation. You’re either a pastor or a business leader. You can choose between calling and commerce, ministry, or marketplace.
But Ryan didn’t buy that narrative. He saw his business expertise as a tool, not a tension. And instead of choosing one lane, he leaned into both. Create Church is reaching people in one of the most diverse suburbs in Texas. His business continues to thrive.
Ryan is building relationships and discipling leaders. He is also creating financial margin to help others. He’s not burning out. He’s building wisely. And it’s all rooted in the same mission to make disciples and multiply impact.
So here’s the lesson. Your calling doesn’t have to fit in a box. You can build a business that funds your ministry. You can lead in a church and the community. You can preach the gospel and serve hot chicken on the side.
God doesn’t just use pastors; He uses entrepreneurs, risk-takers, builders, and creators, too.
