Hey everyone, I’m Justin Trapp, and this is the Ministry Minute podcast.
What do an NFL draft analyst and a rising superstar quarterback have in common?
They both see football as the platform, but faith as their purpose.
Daniel Jeremiah grew up in a ministry fishbowl. His dad, Dr. David Jeremiah, pastors Shadow Mountain Community Church in San Diego.
And when your last name is on the church sign, every move feels like it’s being watched.
But even in that spotlight, God was doing quiet work.
A walk-on QB at Northeastern Louisiana, then a starter at Appalachian State.
He even helped to lead team Bible studies.
But when an injury cut his playing career short, it felt like the dream died. It turns out it was just a redirection.
He became an NFL scout. First with the Ravens, then the Browns, then the Eagles, and at one point, he got fired.
No job, no backup plan. But God had one.
Through a podcast he started for fun, Move the Sticks, and a few divine connections, Daniel landed at the NFL Network.
Now millions listen as he breaks down NFL prospects.
And he says, “Whatever plans you think you have, you just have to have faith that God has got a much better plan.”
He keeps a verse on his iPhone.
Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
He’s not just analyzing players. He’s anchored in purpose. And when people in the industry are hurting, they often come to him. Not because he’s loud about his faith, but because they’ve seen it lived. Then there’s C.J. Stroud, the starting quarterback of the Houston Texans.
When a reporter asked what matters most, he replied,
“Football is my platform, but spreading the gospel of Jesus is my purpose.”
That’s not just the quick sound bite. That’s his posture every single week.
Because for Stroud, success isn’t measured just in touchdowns. It’s measured in faithfulness. They’re at different stages in the NFL.
Same eternal mission. David Jeremiah behind the mic, C.J. Stroud under center. Neither one is chasing a platform. They’re stewarding it. And their lives echo the words of Jesus.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Because when people see something different in you, they start looking for the source.
Your platform might look different, but the call is the same.
Let your life shine because the stage God gave you was never just for you.
