One of the biggest points of opportunity churches have to make disciples is to leverage the weeks just after someone surrenders to Christ. Oftentimes, the bulk of our gospel preaching focuses on calling someone to respond to Christ and His gospel. But sometimes we miss the opportunity after salvation. So what might it look like to preach a sermon series on what comes after salvation? I’m glad you asked.
Chapter 2 is a three-week series intended to be used after a big evangelism push, as both an introduction for visitors or new believers and as a reminder to more mature believers about the work God continues to do in our lives after salvation. Chapter 2 is about the next steps after salvation, the gifts God graciously provides for us to grow closer to him and into greater Christlikeness—his church, the discipleship of other believers, and his gracious work of sanctification in our lives.
This sermon series is a fantastic way to get people engaged in the life of the church and engaged in their own faith journey. This sermon series is a great way to focus on the call all believers have to be missionaries and to make disciples. God isn’t done after salvation. He is just getting started.
So help your congregation see that and live that, especially those who are new to the faith.
