Lessons From The Mustard Seed
Jesus used symbols, like the mustard seed, to teach about the kingdom of God. Mustard seeds are very small. A spoonful can hold close to one hundred seeds. The mustard plant can germinate quickly and begin to spread quickly as well. If not controlled, the plant can become very large and even harbor birds’ nests. From something so small can come something very large that can impact an entire garden. Although the plant will be irritating to some, it will provide shelter and food for others. For some gardeners the mustard seed can be very difficult eradicate, even in the harshest of environments (Curtis Smith, “Attempting to Control the Invasive Mustard Weed,”Alamogordo Daily News, http://www.alamogordonews.com/story/news/local/community/2017/02/07/attempting-control-invasive-mustard-weed/97604756/).
